World Bank Institute organizes Executive Development Program on "Inclusive and Sustainable Business: Opening Markets to the Poor"

Meeting_2

The World Bank Institute and its partners are launching this executive development program with a view to helping business executives and public sector leaders develop and implement sustainable corporate strategies that also provide opportunities for the world’s four billion poor people to raise themselves out of poverty.

The curriculum integrates both traditional and distance learning models, including face-to-face (9-13 June 2008 in Washington, D.C.) and e-learning (16-30 June 2008) components. Visit the program’s website for more information, and download the agenda (pdf, 10 pages).

Shona Grant, Managing Director of the Development Focus Are at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), will present the WBCSD's Measuring Impact Framework. The framework is designed to help companies understand their contribution to society and use this understanding to inform their operational and long-term investment decisions and have better-informed conversations with stakeholders.

For his part, Robert De Jongh of SNV Netherlands Development Organization will speak about the WBCSD-SNV Alliance for Inclusive Business in a panel on "The Role of Donor Agencies and Multilateral Institutions in the Emerging Market Context".
